The Role of Pakistani Media in Palestine’s Effort to Achieve True Independence

Islamabad, 16 November 2025

Pakistan’s press has long positioned itself as a moral and vocal advocate within the nation’s foreign policy discourse, particularly regarding the Palestinian cause. As a democracy with a diverse and dynamic media landscape—encompassing traditional newsrooms, public broadcasting, and digital-native platforms—Pakistani media play a pivotal role in shaping how the public perceives international events, humanitarian struggles, and diplomatic developments.
This influence extends beyond agenda-setting and framing to include watchdog journalism, solution-oriented reporting, and expressions of transnational solidarity.

Goals of the Seminar

  • Clarify Ethical and Legal Standards for reporting on Palestine using international humanitarian law, conflict-sensitive journalism.
  • Strengthen Verification Capacities (OSINT, geolocation, source triangulation) to counter mis/disinformation.
  • Map Media–Diplomacy Interfaces between newsroom narratives, public opinion, and Pakistan’s foreign policy positions.
  • Develop Practical Guidelines for sustained context-rich coverage beyond episodic crisis reporting.
  • Foster Networks among Indonesian media, universities, NGOs, and fact-checking consortia for ongoing collaboration.
